This website is actually a prototype of a concept the Holy Spirit gave me on June 8, 2008. The crux of the idea is to develop a social website that raises the social consciousness of its members: A Community of Christ. The description I was given is this: A worldwide, nationwide, grassroots operation to change the world—one day, one person, one family, one neighborhood, one city, one state, one nation—for all time.

Notice that the “.us” extension is part of the website name, much like the “del.icio.us” domain. That’s the great thing about the ”.us” extension: it can be incorporated as part of the domain name for many useful words and concepts. Unfortunately, the domain “conscio.us” is already owned by someone, but they are not using it. Most likely they are waiting to sell it to someone who has a purpose for it. The Lord will provide. Meanwhile I will use the “cons-cio.us” domain. The idea is to have grassroots organizations like “Touched by an Angel” and ‘Center of Hope” take ownership of various sections of the site.
For example, homeless.cons-cio.us/Clearwater could be maintained by one of these organizations, and they would qualify to share in a portion of the ad revenue.
Since this is both an international and a grass-roots undertaking, the revenue model would include both local, national and international advertising—depending on the area of the site. Of course, corporate sponsorships and government grants would be sought, as well.
As to the inner workings of the site itself, I came across a Thinking/Creativity course by Edward de Bono in October of 2008. The man is brilliant at | | explaining how the human mind processes information and in developing tools for better thinking and creativity. It is the basis of his work that those participating in our Community of Christ will be trained for problem solving and creative purposes. These courses are helpful to everyone, they will change the way you think about thinking; and can help you develop strategies and ideas for any area in your life.
Briefly, this is how it will work: the stimulus of the site will be questions/problems common to society and presented by the site and its members. A specific format would be used to answer/solve the questions/problems. As stated, we would be providing the members with powerful thinking tools based on de Bono’s Thinking Course, et. al. We would essentially be teaching them to “think outside the brain”. In that regard, we would acknowledge the value of approaching these exercises with prayer and thanksgiving—recognizing the Giver of all wisdom and knowledge. Let’s say we wanted to attack drug and alcohol use among teenagers. First, we would form a panel to explore the issue. We would encourage them to at least take the crash course on the de Bono method to be better prepared for the task. Each group moderator would be required to read de Bono’s Thinking Course, as a bare minimum. One could order her own copy, or check it out from the local library.
One of the method’s we would use is the p.i.g. method—provocative idea generation. First of all, we have to consider if we really want to attack this issue at all—look at all the fun they’re having killing one another, the unwanted pregnancies, the beautiful crack babies, the abortions, the birth defects… O.K., you see I’ve taken everything 180 degrees out of phase with reality. The idea is to mull these over and allow your brain to be provoked into coming up with new alternatives—alternatives you never would have thought of staying with your routine thought patterns. No value judgments at this point—the most ludicrous idea could be a jumping off point for the best idea ever.
So, after mulling this over for awhile, I come up with “how about spoofing beer ads and show how people really act ‘under the influence’”… Someone else may say, | | “shoot video of real people coming out of bars, driving drunk, etc.” or “let DUI offenders clean up body parts off the highway”.
Now each idea would be evaluated for positive, negative, and interesting points by each individual panelist. The idea(s) receiving the most positive votes from the community after this process would be submitted for “project” status. The process of project submittal, including status approval and committee selection, would have its own rules and format; including consideration of all factors involved, short and long term consequences, speculation forecast, etc.
Users would subscribe to RSS feeds from areas of the site with which they were involved, or that interested them; to keep abreast of pertinent developments.
The potential here is enormous, and could be used on any level in any arena, from national on down to the neighborhood level. Each participating group (church, civic, non-profit, watchdog, etc.) would participate in an ad revenue sharing program as additional incentive.
In the November 2008 issue of Popular Science, a “letter to the President” article on page 73 advocates a “White House 2.0”, a government accessible through social networking; very similar to what was given to me by the Spirit in June of ’08 and described here. The major difference being that they proposed to simply present questions to the users and see what stumbled in. Whereas we would be training our people in the fine art of idea/concept generation, that is, new ways to think. The article did serve as confirmation as well as spawning new ideas for fund raising, advertising, etc.
The first step I believe is to seek out board members and procure 501 (c) 3 status for Diamond Mind Group, as well as to procure the domain(s) that were mentioned.
Am I simply a victim of my own imagination? Sometimes, but not this time…
